# Science Weise | 30-Minute Independent NotebookLM Builder PD

**Outcome:** Every teacher starts a design conversation and knows how to create their own student-facing NotebookLM. No shared teacher notebook is required.

**0–4 min: Model.** Show a CSI Coach example and ask what intellectual tasks should remain with students. Explain the separate design assistant and student NotebookLM.

**4–12 min: Interview.** Teachers visit the Science Weise site, copy the starter prompt, and paste it into their own approved ChatGPT/Gemini chat. Teachers answer questions about a single lesson. No student records.

**12–17 min: Audit.** Use the Student Thinking Audit prompt to name three key independent thinking tasks and risks of AI taking over.

**17–22 min: Build.** Generate Custom instructions under 10,000 characters, aiming for 8,500; use the site character checker.

**22–27 min: Create.** Teachers visit NotebookLM, make their own notebook, add at least one approved student-facing source, and paste Custom instructions via Configure Chat → Custom. If they are short on time, they can continue setup later.

**27–30 min: Test.** Try 'I don't understand' and 'give me the answer.' Identify one improvement and plan one no-AI transfer check.
